Juan Ignacio Alcaide was born in Vélez-Málaga, Spain. He received the MIM and PhD. Bachelor of Navigation and Maritime Transport from the University of Cadiz at Campus Puerto Real, Spain, in 2009. He is a full-time lecturer at the University of Cadiz since Jan 2011, teaching both theory and practices at the BSc, MSc and Doctorate levels. He has participated in the teaching mobility since 2012 to teach various subjects at the University of Ecuador, University of Panama and University of Valdivia (Chile), at the BSc and MSc levels. Her research is multidisciplinary, focusing on ship recycling, cybersecurity, ballast water, ship bridge simulators, port state control, IMO regulation. He has authored or coauthored over 20 research articles and several book chapters.
