Textbook of Maritime Medicine v2

The Textbook of Maritime Medicine is a comprehensive learning tool aimed at providing health professionals and others with a complete overview of the field of maritime medicine, free of charge. The Textbook was moved to a new IT platform in October 2014 to enable readers to access it with tablet computers and smartphones. At the same time some revisions to the content of chapters were made.

Norwegian Association of Maritime Medicine (NAMM)

Aim

The aim of the Norwegian Association of Maritime Medicine (NAMM) is to promote maritime medicine in general and to further the scientific, social and economic interests of our members in particular.

Establishment

The Norwegian Association of Maritime Medicine (NAMM) was established in 1969.

Organization

The Norwegian Association of Maritime Medicine (NAMM) is a chapter of the Norwegian Medical Association. The members of NAMM are medical doctors with interest in maritime medicine in general and medical doctors authorized by the Norwegian Maritime Directorate in particular.

NAMM is a corporate member of The International Maritime Health Association (IMHA).

Activities

The Norwegian Association of Maritime Medicine (NAMM) is organizing courses in maritime medicine for members and interested persons. The Royal Norwegian Navy established a basis course in maritime medicine in cooperation with NAMM in 1999. In 2008 the basic course was transferred to Norwegian Centre for Maritime Medicine (NCMM). NAMM is also organizing annual advanced refreshment courses in maritime medicine.

Since 1997 NAMM has published a tri-annual newsletter in Norwegian named DoCumentum Navale. Since 2001 DoCumentum Navale has been published in cooperation with the Danish Society on Maritime Medicine.
